Hi, I'm Melissa. I'm a freelance ocean writer covering marine science, conservation and sustainability.

As a journalist, my niche gives me the opportunity to write about fascinating animal behaviours, new marine science discoveries, deep-sea exploration and everything in between. In a nutshell: I write about the ocean.

I love telling stories about our Blue Planet ('cause it's amazing). My stories appear regularly in Nat Geo, BBC Wildlife, BBC Countryfile and I've also been published by the New York Times, Scientific American, New Scientist, the guardian and more. I'm also available for (usually marine) conservation or sustainability writing commissions from editors and organisations.

As a freelance ocean writer and journalist (I'm also a certified scuba diver with around 300 logged dives so I know what I'm talking about when it comes to the underwater world), there are a few ways I can help you tell awesome stories about the ocean:
