Getting into gift guides

Have you ever seen a competitor’s product featured in a newspaper or magazine’s gift guide or product roundup and wondered “how on earth did they get featured in there?” If so, this handy guide is for you!

There are a few things you can do to improve your chances of having your product featured in the press. The checklist below has been developed to help give your product the best chance of media pickup based on Melissa’s 12+ years of PR experience.

About Melissa

Melissa is a PR and communications consultant and copywriter who specialises in supporting charities and for-purpose organisations and startups. She’s worked both in-house and agency-side with a wide range of clients in the charity, travel, consumer, corporate and even tech sectors. As a published journalist herself, she understands what the media is looking for. During her 12+ year career, Melissa has written hundreds of releases and generated thousands of pieces of coverage for her clients. A common problem experienced by many – particularly those without direct communications experience – is that people aren’t sure how the product placement process works. So, she’s developed these handy guidelines to help sustainable business owners who are trying to get their products featured in press gift guides.
